so i read somewhere that the ipod has 150 mb of memory, but the most i have ever seen on my ipod (via sbsettings) is 56mb, but usually its around 35-45 (if i don't have any thing running)

so how much memory is there to be available on the ipod touch 1g?

*(o and just a note but the app freememory 1.4 is like a total scam if you have more than 20, it says you don't need any more and doesn't do anything...
and its totally not worth 2 bucks.)*

*****Nevermind it has 128 mb, but ur left with like 40 cuz of system processes. well still the app is a scam and i dont like it...*****

As mentioned above, the iPod Touch and iPhone have 128MB SDRAM, which is the highest and currently the standard for smart phones. Around 60-70MB of this is used up by the system and Apple's stock apps and daemons. You should have 50-60MB spare, part of which be allocated already. In general you should see 20-30MB free memory available for running your Appstore apps or other processes when you are at the springboard on an unjailbroken device.

I'm putting together a little thread with pointers for better memory management and trouble shooting memory issues. Should be out in this forum soon.
