How many apps will fit on 8gb and 16gb ipod touch?
Applications take up relatively minute amounts of space, so don't jump to a 16 GB just because you're worried about space for apps.

depends.. the size in apps can range from 400 kb to 100 mb, but i have over 60 apps on my 8gb and still have room for more, i imagine the 16 will have twice as much space.. But ALL the ipods can only support 9 pages of apps so you have a maximum of about 148 apps.
however your springboard can only hold up to 9 pages of apps
I am fairly sure that apps dont take up much space, its videos that do it. Also if you jailbreak then there are apps that let you create folders so you can have as many apps as your ipod can hold. Please Register or Log in to view images

There are exceptions, of course. I know GPS apps take up a lot (unless you rip the countries that you don't care about). Mostly games take up the bulk but there aren't many above 50-100 MB.
Prince Of Persia The Warrior Within - 550 MB
Driver - 403 MB
Brothers in Arms 2 - 266 MB
Monkey Island, GTA Chinatown Wars, Avatar, Splinter Cell, etc... You'll manage with an 8 GB, for sure. Syncing new stuff isn't so bad since you still have to charge it via USB, so why not buy the cheapest one ? Well, maybe because the "4G" is around the corner, that's why. Edit: Oh, wow. Necropost much ?
I have like 90 apps (some fat ones in the mix to) and they've only used up about 4gbs on my 32gb iPod touch so I would say 8gb is quite adequate you just have to be economical on the videos though.
If you dont delete apps you dont use, then the memory can go quite quickly.
