there's no definite timetable. my first ipod touch lasted over a year without any battery problems til i had to replace the entire unit because of the home button getting stuck

I still have my 1st Generation iPod touch.

The battery is as good today as it was the day I got it.

Yeah, I'm very pleased with it.

Then again, if you had to replace it every year, Apple would catch a lot of flack, seeing as the battery isn't removable.

a good way to keep your battery healthy is to drain the battery and charge it up again frequently, if u dont use it you will loose it. and dont drain the battery all the way down becasue it will kill battery cells iv heard
