    Should a CPU be?

    Idle and under heavy load?

mine is around 33C idle, and can go up to 58 or 59 while playing left4dead for a while. Is this ok? i heard BSODs occur around 60.

Do I need a better fan?

Mine's around 28C when idle, and goes close to that. I'm sure it's fine.

Umm mine is around 45C, when just browsing the web and IM people. This is partly because I have a laptop, isn't it?

I think you should be fine.

Once you get in the high 50's you should start worrying.

My MacBook is in the 40-50C's. Is that ok for a laptop though?

Not too bad but I would be leery. Perhaps you should consider a laptop cooling pad; If you invest in a nice one, it is very effective.
According to what I've read, the MacBook will shut down automatically if it gets too hot to prevent damage.
