Well, I thought this would be interesting to some.
So the age old question is... how fast can you really type with the iPad's on-screen keyboard? Let's find out. Use Safari on your iPad and navigate to this website:
    http://www.powertyping.com/typing_test/typing_test.shtml

Then type the first passage as fast as possible, making only 1 mistake maximum, and see how fast you can really type on the iPad.

    Here's my result:

I kind of redid the test the third time to get that kind of result, and I sitll mixed up a period and a comma towards the end. But anyway...

So how fast can you really type with the iPad?

I will definitely try this when I get my iPad next week. Also, see if www.typeracer.com works. Type Racer is a really fun game I used to play at school (because almost every other game was blocked). You basically race other people in typing short passages. Someone using an iPad would be at a significant disadvantage, however, as the top racers will often break 120 wpm regularly using a real keyboard.

Well, what do you know, it works!

But you are right. using the iPad to play that game is a nightmare... Other people are just too fast for you.

It gets pretty addicting haha, I think my record was 128 or something, but a few of my friends at school have broken 140 before.

your typing rate is : 110 wpm
    words typed : 75
    mistakes made : 19
which is 27.7 mistakes per minute

acceptable rate is 1 mistake per min regardless of your typing speed

    On a PC keyboard

Yeah I find that on average, I type around 110 wpm including fixing 95% of the mistakes that I make. So even though I make something like 10 mistakes per minute or so according to that test, I can usually manage 100-110 wpm on average.

That test throws me off because whenever I make a mistake, I automatically press backspace, but for that test, you're supposed to not press backspace but press the right key and keep going, which is pretty hard.

Well, the iPad keyboard doesn't seem to respond well to really fast typing. Anything above 80wpm will result in an automatic freeze and then the app will crash to SpringBoard, so there is much to be desired.

That goes for every app out there, not just for Safari, by the way.
