Okay, so anyone could potentially try this now. I know this might depend on terrain as well (mountains, valleys, trees, houses, etc).

How far does your WiFi signal go from your house before it doesn't connect or doesn't show up on your iPod? Let's see some results from new iPod 2G users on how far a working signal can go before it's unusable.

Try going outside, down the street, around the block, or to the corner store or something. Post back to see how far your WiFi signal goes!

Anyone is welcome to try. But this is more specifically for results on comparison of 1G and 2G iPod Touches.

    Good luck!

Dude I think it depends on the router you have how far the signal goes, as for me my wi-fi stops working when I get about 10 feet from my house

300 ft? Damn, I get like 50 ft away from my router and loose signal, I don't have an antenna and my house is all concerete which doesn't help but I think it's a little weaker than my iMacs wifi for example. I've seen a couple of threads sharing my opinion on the 2gs signal strength in comparison with other devices.

    ipod touch wi-fi

i have an ipod 2nd generation and i also had a ipod touch 1st generation and wen i borrowed my old one the 1st generation had a much better signal and many more wi-fi networks than the 2nd generation so in my opinion the 1st generation has a better signal
