Just wondering, how the ipod gets un-pwned after using Pwner successfully. I pwned and restored to 1.1.4 pwned and then upgraded to 2.0b pwned...

I gave up on the 2.0b because it was too buggy and restored to regular 1.1.4, and then tried to restore to 1.1.4_custom but it didn't work, giving me error 1604 in iTunes. Searching this revealed that this error occurs when your ipod gets "un-pwned". Running iPwner again fixed the problem and I am back on custom 1.1.4.

My question though, is how did it get un-pwned? Does restoring it un-pwn it? Because I was under the impression that once your ipod was pwned you never had to do it again... and reading these threads about people bricking it makes me nervous to re-do it.

    Anyone know?

    Just ignore the top post...

To un do it, just restore to your desired firmware, And you can be fresh again.

You just repeated what I said in a different way.

Sorry, sarcasm is like heroin to me. I can't get enough.

To the OP: So just in case it wasn't clear to you yet, simply restore to Apple's 1.1.4 and you're back in jail.

I am aware that if you restore to Apple's 1.1.4 that it re-locks the ipod.

I was just confused because I thought that iPwner changed the boot loader of the ipod so that you could load custom firmware FOREVER. So you have to re-pwn the ipod after every time you restore to a default apple firmware?
