I have a 2nd gen ipod touch, and I'm always using the speaker. I use it really only when I'm in my room and play a quick game or something, or listen to a couple songs and I don't want to put headphones on.

The speaker just doesn't get too loud though, so if I move around in my room I usually just hold it so I can hear the music better.

The iPad speaker is quite a bit better than the 2nd gen ipod's speaker, right? I would sure hope so, lol.

    How does it compare?

In my humble opinion, I think the iPad speaker is really good. Very loud and clear. I would say it is around 2 to 3 times better than the iPod touch 2 gen.

It's alot better, most crisp and clear. It can get a lot louder too. It's ideal for a that kind of device.

It's not amazing, but it's a lot better than the iPod and iPhone speakers.

If its better than the iPhone's speakers, it will be great for me.

So all I need to do is actually get one... Grrr.

How do the speakers compare to laptops/netbooks? Just a vague comparison is fine.

Depends on the specific laptop/netbook, but I know for sure my laptop's speakers are better than the iPad's.
