iPhone 3G how does iphone 3g lock itself

    i'm thinking to get an iphone from US but i'm wondering how does iphone 3g lock itself? i mean when it happens ? when i put an another sim card or when i open it ?

    You cannot soft unlock a 3G. There are numerous AnySIM unlocks, some working and many not. Wait for jimbeam to come explain more.

    The phone is factory locked so it doesn't matter what you do, it will still be locked.
    You have to wait for a software unlock or use a turbosim.

    This is my understanding of how it works

    The unlock/lock state is stored in the seczone. its unique to each phone. This information is also stored on apples servers. So when you put a sim in that doesn't belong to the network its locked to the phone knows and when you connect it to itunes it knows. Itunes checks the info from the seczone to see if that phone should be unlocked or not.
