    Download BossPrefs from Cydia.

But I heard that SSH doesn't eat battery life unless it is actually being used.

if i use non-jailbreakfirmware (aka the real mac firmware) - is SSH turned on or off. i know for jailbreak its turned on automatically.

how is wifi differnt from SSH? if i manually select which wifi i want - then why is SSH used for?

The regular firmware doesn't have SSH compatibility.
You get SSH by downloading OpenSSH, which enables SSH on your device.
Wi-Fi is wireless internet, SSH just enables you to access your device's files over an internet connection.

basiclly ssh is where you can log into your ipod and change file on your ipod's hard drive which is good for putting themes and background pictures on your ipod
