How do you prevent the iPod from automatically putting glossy 3D effect on an icon?

So I created a new icon, saved it as PNG, and put it in my app directory. When I restart it takes effect, but the iPod automatically applies that shiny 3D effect (light at top, dark at bottom), and I don't want that for this icon. How do you stop it from doing that? I notice that not all icons have this effect so it must be possible.

all appstore icons have a 'glossy' overlay on them but none of the default applications do

you could change the overlay to a transparent picture but it would take off the glossy effect on all appstore apps.

i would post a directory to where the overlay is but my ipod is fcked atm
