When I installed it, there is no option to turn it on on the main menu or settings. How do I make it work?

it should get installed when you jailbreak, use the installer app to goto system category and install services.app to turn ssh on or off, but its on by default.

Thank you, I didn't know how to turn it off before. I did get it working, however. Will this save battery life at all?

Alternatively if you download services through installer, then there is an option in there to turn it on and off, likewise for wifi.

Turning SSH off has been known to save a good amount of battery life, at least on mine it does. Plus, its a good idea to turn it off when your not using it incase you are at a big wifi hotspot and someone else with FTP knowledge decides to screw around with your itouch files.
