I'm unclear whether or not you know how to properly SSH. Click.

To put photos on your iPod via SSH and have them show up in your Photos.app, stick them in /private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100Apple or 999Apple (doesn't matter.) If not, just stick them in anywhere and you can view them with iFile.

try editing the index file somewhere in those folders. Im sure you can find some kind of pattern in it. then it will show up in photos.app

Why not just get the app called "Air Sharing " makes things alot easier with putting pictures onto the ipod touch not to mention alot of other files, pdf, word, to name a few. PS. While viewing photo within app you have an option to save it to photo app on ipod touch.

In addition to placing them in those directories you also have to rename them to reflect the proper naming scheme.

I don't know how to give them a thumbnail though so it will just show a black box at the thumb screen.

Because for some reason Itunes doesnt read it, and the pictures JPEG.
