I just got a laptop and I want to transfer all the music, movies, and tv shows that I have in itunes on my desktop computer. Hardly any of it was actually bought off of itunes, so I'm not sure how I go about transferring it. Does anyone know how I would go about moving it all?

Do you have an external HDD or a high capacity USB flash drive?

How much are we talking about here?

Yeah I have a 320 gb external hard drive. I have 1180 songs, 30 movies, and 85 tv show episodes. If I could choose which to transfer over that would be great because there is some stuff I don't want on my laptop, but I don't want to delete it off of my desktop itunes. If not, that's alright.

Do you know where the music + movies + shows are located on your computer?

If you have them all on your iPod Touch, just use sharepod on your laptop.

Why cant you just copy them to your external HDD and then put them on your other computer and authorise that computer aswell?

Go into iTunes and press ctrl + A. Then drag them to your HDD.

I tried the ctrl + A method and it worked to transfer them to my HDD, and itunes recognizes them, but itunes always freezes up at determining gapless playback information. If I unplug the HDD then itunes instantly unfreezes, but most of the songs are missing their album artwork and they most have the little exclamation point next to the title and doesn't allow me to play them.
