OK, recently my jailbroken 1.1.1 ipod got sick and in a panic I was forced to put the poor bastard out of it's misery. I forced it into restore mode.

I went into itunes and tried restoring it. However, during the process, it came up with an error message that said

I always thought that restore was like an ejection button that could get you out of the toughest problems with your ipod, excluding physical damage. If I can't restore my ipod, what can I do?

Have you tried restoring with the newest Apple firmware, and not Shift-Clicking the Restore button and selecting a firmware?

    turn the whole ipod off...

Plug into your computer and whilst its turning on hold the home button it should then put into restore mode, just restore in itunes by pressing restore, the downgrade if neccecary

    None of these methods worked.

    Let me clarify a little.

When I press restore and upgrade, it downloads and extracts it normally, but when Itunes says that it is preparing the ipod for restore, it takes a minute or two and then it brings up the error message I posted in the 1st post.
