Use WinAmp or VLCPlayer. You can play the files without having to Convert them. Seriously, Windows Media Player is a Dead Application. Its useless. Microsoft has dumped that and moved on to Media Center.

I bet you can use other Apps or even Drag and Drop with your MP3 player.

Think about it. EVEN ZUNE DOESN'T USE WMP. And it's a Microsoft Product.

Does it show up as a drive on your computer when you plug it in?

Also, I think iTunes supports most other Music Players.

By the way, iTunes can convert the music to MP3 also. Its in the Settings, General, navigate to the CD area, click "Import Settings" and change it to MP3.

Either under File or Edit, not sure on Windows.
