Hi, I'm really confused about whether or not his iTouch is 3G or not.

He also has it updated to 3.1.2.

I've tried using blackrain's jailbreak but it keeps rebooting and asking me to restore the iTouch. I think this is called tethered?

So would the fact that its tethered mean its a 3g?

My cousins in the 3rd grade and has nooooooo idea about technology, any ways to distinguish what generation his is so I can properly jailbreak it?

    Thanks a lot everyone!

Just re-run blackra1n and then go into settings>general>about>model> If it is MC then it's a 3gen.

    Don't let a 3rd grader get a jailbroken ipod!

    oh thanks a lot tkf1

So now that I know its a 3rd gen, I'm pretty sure i read somewhere that theres no way to have an untethered 3G iTouch, is that correct?

You know, you're being very immature by spamming with your useless posts. Who cares if he's in third grade? Chill.

Anyways, yes, if it gives you the connect to iTunes logo everytime you reboot it, that means it's tethered.

Why not? I was very intelligent in the 3rd grade that the school was going to skip me a grade and even think I would pass that grade with no sweat. If its a not very smart 3rd grader, then yes they shouldn't jailbreak but it depends on their knowledge.

What 3grader needs an ipod? Their just going to listen to Barney music. Then he'll get bored of it within a day.
