Ok, so I've been thinking about learning how to make icons and just a basic theme for my ipod. Can someone out there have a lot of patience for me and suggest a good image editor? I would like to start out by making icons. Do I need a template?

PhotoShop is your best bet for photo editing. I don't know much past that though. :/ Although, I am wanting to learn fully as well.

A great way to start out, if your not very experienced, is to make any icon (size doesn't matter

Use the GIMP. It is the second best image editor, it's free, and it is more lightweight than Photoshop. Banner tutorials and signature tutorials work just as well for when you make wallpapers.

Personally I don't like GIMP at all and I love Photoshop. However, if you don't have the money to fork over for it, you'll have to find "other means" of getting it.
