SSH into your ipod and go to var/root and copy EVERYTHINGGGGG....btw: please do not do this till someone more professional than me clarifies, as i am not that bright lol

i just got my iphone a few months back, and have not had to use a back up yet

I tried backing up using ftp and it cannot be done since there are invisible files and such things that will not be included. When backing up everything it also attempted to backup the entire (then empty) media partition as a 7+GB large file.

There is apparently a new backup application for PC users now. Somewhere. On a MAC I think backup is still impossible. Maybe even through SSH.
