Today I bought a new 32gb iPod Touch which came with 3.1.3 firmware installed. I was hoping to upgrade to 4.0 jailbreak it but today I learn that 4.0.2 is already out. Is there a way to upgrade to 4.0 and will I be able to restore if things go wrong? Does it worth it?

well first off. is to save your shsh blobs. u can use tinyumbrella. second sry no there is no way to upgrade to 4.0 unless you save your shsh for 4.0. the reason why is because apple stop signing any old ios firmwares whenever they release a new one meaning itunes will no allow you to do so. you will have to wait to wait till sum1 release a jailbreak for 4.0.2 if you would like to upgrade from 3.1.3

You can't without your SHSH blobs. However, Apple isn't signing 4.0 anymore, so unless you already have them, you can't. Sorry.

I was able to downgrade my 8GB Ipod Touch to 4.0 from 4.0.2 using shift/restore and the newest version of itunes, so I believe Apple is still signing for 4.0

^ LOL. That's because second generation devices don't use SHSH blobs.

It's an MC model and I bought it new just a couple of months ago. I believe the 8GB models have the same hardware as the 2G ones though.
