if you have mail, turn down the intervals it gets mail, mine is at 15mins, but if you wanted a better battery, turn it to 1 hour. Also keep wifi OFF in settings and only turn it ON when you need it.

all the things im gonna list dont do much, but together, it can save ur battery signifigantly
    turn off SSH
    turn off Wifi
    turn down brightness
make email only refresh wen opened
make sure u CLOSE apps (hold down home button wen exiting an app untill it closes, instead of just pressing it and going home)
if none that helps, u might have a defective ipod, restore, see if the batt still sucks, if so, take it to the apple store, maybe they'll give u a new one
    hope this helps,
    cheers ben

    1. Turn off SSH (Use Services.app)
    2. Turn off Wi-Fi (In Settings)
    3. Use the Auto Brightness setting
    4. Turn down Brightness
    5. Set Mail to refresh when Open
    6. When going back to Home screen, hold home button for more than 5 seconds to close apps.
    7. Upgrade to 1.1.3. It has better battery life management.

Also, if you still have issues, try rebooting your iPod every once and a while. You're opening so many applications, once you shut it off, they all get released, so it frees up RAM, therefore extending your battery life.

    This happened to me.
Is it new? Or fairly new?
I bought mine, and for the first couple of days it lasted like 2 hours.
What it didnt say in instructions, is if you dont put it on charge for over 7.5 hours, then the charge wont last.

    Hope i helped

Get Battery.app. Fully charge. If the battery reading is less than 4100 send it
back to Apple and tell them you want a decent battery. If it won't last at least
4 hrs on wifi you are being swindled.

I have the app Hardware Info, and under Power it says this

    (fully charged, plugged into computer)

    Battery Capacity --- 100/100

    Battery Voltage (mV) --- 4087

Is that number too low or something?

    Thanks.
