    Okay my iPod Touch 2G was dropped by a friend of mine leaving a small crack in the screen. At first I didn't mind, until that small crack became a big crack spanning across the entire screen. So I called Apple to see if it was covered under warranty, which it wasn't, and it costs $120 to fix. I try calling local places and they say Apple won't let them fix iPod Touch's. Is there any way I can make up a different story when calling Apple so they can either fix it for free or send me a new one? Has anyone succeeded in doing this before?

    try saying the screen cracked while you were charging it. say you left it on your dock for the night and you woke up with it cracked and very hot.

    Damn, i was gonna say bananas!.. Does bananas really work ??

    Easy way to get it fixed for free... your friend dropped it... it is their fault, hence they owe you the responsibility to replace it for free. If they broke it, they pay for it.

    Why fool apple for it ? they didnt drop it ? Its the same as someone buying a car off you, crashing it into a tree and then comming back to you for a new car because that one has been crashed and them saying they want a new one because the radio would not turn on. Making a claim through apple, even as big a company as they are, only forces the price up if they are replacing them for anything and everything.

    I repair mobile phones, PSP's, PDA's and whatever else i can and one thing i hate is people with bricked units comming in, getting the screen replaced then trying to claim i broke it and it wont turn on. I fix it easy. I either reflash the unit if it can be, or replace the board that is at fault and i keep the unit until they pay for it. If not, i hock their unit at the local pawn shop or on ebay.

    Tell your parents how it got broken and have a word to your friend and his parents about how it got broken. He should pay. If he dosent, he isnt any sort of good friend.

    Spend $150 to get it fixed and another $50 to get it cleaned.

    Your sub-total will be $200 plus $50 more for tax. XD

    total = $250

    rounded = about $300

    Options:

    1. Pay for the repair. It's not a defect or warrantied issue.
    2. Live with the crack.
    3. Prostitute yourself out in exchange for a new ipod.
    4. Shoplift?
