i have a seagate 320gb portable usb hard drive. my computer is running vista. i want to dual boot ubuntu and something else (vista, xp, hackintosh) on my portable hard drive. this gives me two questions:
    1) how can i have two (or more) active partitions on my hard drive. (my partitioning program said i can only have one). if someone knows a good guide, please tell me
    2) is it possible to install windows 7 to a portable USB hard drive? i tried and it said you cant install to a usb or IEEE(?) hard drive. is there a way? and can i istall hackintosh to one?
    thank you

I know that if you have XP or Vista already installed on your computer then you can install something called wubi and its a Ubuntu installer for Windows that does everyting for you.

All you need to do is add your username and password and how many gigs you want it to have. Works really good, I just did it last night

well im not sure about windows 7 but i know i found a way to put vista on a portable hard drive. the only thing is it will only work on one computer and you have to have a spare partition that you can format

You could possibly use Gparted live cd on your portable.
