Although I know nothing to help you solve the issue, I am wondering is it really bad to take calls thru the speaker...I was offered an iphone for sale at a really good price that has similar/same issue.

Yeah it's really not a big issue. I mean my friend gave me the phone for free along with a 3G iPhone.

That was the first thing I tried... Same with the qtip method and pulling the headphones out.

do you have a warranty? otherwise there are small places which will fix it for a low price.

Idefinitly don't have a warranty since my friend gave me the iPhone. I just hacktivated the iPhone 3G that he gave me so I'm going to see if that one works. What kind of places would fix is?? Would they fix very cracked screens??

I had the same problem, but pulling the headphone jack in and out very quickly for about 30 times did the trick for me. I suggest trying it again.
