My iPods home button has recently become harder and harder to get it to register a push. Now I have to push it really hard to get it to work. So before this thing fails on me completely, any suggestions? Apple is a no go because i'm out of warranty and i've installed a darthpod. A do it yourself thing would be nice. Otherwise its off to eBay to sell then save up for a 2G.

    wut?

Anyway, I would take it to apple anyway, or sell it to some not-so-bright kid from your school so you can just go on to buy the 2g.

WEll if u trust yourself opening it up try that.

I'd suggest an easy open tool and be very careful. My home button contact began to sh*t so i had to go in there and move it back and it worked fine again.

heres the DIY thread for opening the iPod

This happens on 1st Gen iPod Touches and 2G iPhones. The button is redesigned for the iPhone 3G and the iPod Touch 2nd Gen, so it doesnt wear out so easily. If you dont want this to happen again, buy a 2nd Gen iPod.

I can't go to apple for two reasons. 1. My warranty expired in december 2. I have voided my warranty by opening it up. I'm probably going to try and fix it and sell it or just sell it. Its been opened before so I really don't need a tutorial on that. I just need one on what needs to be messed with to make it work. The picture really doesn't help too much

14 months. Seeing as the warranty expired in december and it lasts a year.

There might be something behind the button, so you can try to take it apart and clean it.
