I am not sure if this has ever popped into anyones head but since there are in some cases that the home button would just stop functioning after a while i have seen some threads on the forum as well. So since multitasking requires two presses of the home button dont you think that this will reduce the life span of the home button=good for apple since if the ipod/iphone is not covered by the warranty this means more money in their pockets.

I am not sure how you would react to this but this is just my thought.

pressing the button a lot doesn't break it...I have a 1G iPod touch that has been heavily used for almost 2.5 years, and its home button is functioning fine. broken home buttons are caused by other things (manufacturer defect, abuse, etc.)

sure, you could argue that it will EVENTUALLY break, but this isn't something to worry about.

well i guess you could argue that, but i would rather be more worried about what will happen to the double tap to bring up music. Like for certain themes, the music needs to dissapear otherwise it wont look right

we could also argue that there is a possibility of a ipt or iphone being bricked .....but only when you hit a hammer on the iphone from dangerous heights....lol...

Home button breaking happens very rarely...replacing it with a spare doesnt cost much

Go to Settings> General> About> scroll to version, if its an MC model then it supposed to be a 3G

If its an MB then it might be a 2G

I don't think this will be a problem. Buttons are made to be pressed, so they should last awhile.

Well do not worry the iPod touch's home button would last you a lifetime.
