Known equally for its DS handheld and its Wii console, the company said on Thursday that it anticipates its first profit decline in four years not only because of a rough economy playing havoc with game sales but also due to harsher competition in the portable arena stemming directly from Apple devices.

That's good, maybe the competition will cause both companies to improve.

(Now, I wonder if Nintendo realizes some of its profit decrease is because of gpSPhone...)

Uhh, no. gpsphone can't play DS roms, so anyone wanting to play a DS game will have to get a DS. There aren't really any good GBA games that have come out for a couple years at least, so there is hardly a market for GBA games.

And anyone wanting to play a gba game will most likely get a DS anyone. Touch screen controls are a pain in the ass for an emulator, so a DS has many advantages there.

Nintendo isn't losing profits because a couple hundred people who have jailbroken their ipods put some GB roms on them. (GB roms that aren't even in production anymore). Not even that many people have their phones or ipods jailbroken these days.

Good. Nintendo was getting too popular (especially since their hardware sucks!).

its kinda a normal thing-apple really did make devices ment for (and the all other) playing. they are VERY aware of the fact that ppl just love to play mobile games!
