The rate of power consumption is noticably greater with 3.0 than 2.2.1 - anyone else experienced this? I am recharging the touch after half the time previously.

actually, i noticed that the battery last much longer with the 3.0 firmware (i got a 1g touch)... especially with wifi enabled... i'd say a good 15% increase in battery life is what I noticed

Seems worse to me too, particularly when downloading podcasts directly on to my ipod. Overall, I'm hitting low battery much earlier in my day and I am using it in the same way. I do a lot to preserve battery life, including turning off wifi when not using it and setting screen brightness very low.

Even continuing with these settings, the difference has been noticeable. Seems like not everyone is seeing this, but perhaps the differences in perception are because of differences in usage? Maybe I'm using something that is exposing a weakness in the code?

Didn't see much of a difference, went from 1.1.4 to 3.0

I use my ipod on a regular bases for 4-6 hours during work, but its not liking im trying to download massive amounts of data, or run any super detailed applications.

You should just remember to recharge it every night.

Batteries gradually degrade; you may only be noticing the loss in battery life now, when you have something to blame it on.
