I think all 3d games should start looking at their control scheme. Left side of the screen is for running, the right side for the camera. Double tap left side to dash, double tap right side to shoot. After you start shooting, hold down right side to aim while you shoot. Tap radar for weapons.

Controls are well thought out (although I wish to do the speed burst without having to stop walking, wish it was a button in the top right corner).

There is a Lite version for you guys to check out. Real fun.

WWII Alone has you like those Contra levels, tap on the side to dodge and tap enemies to shoot. Well paced, lots of variety, and PERKS! It's a pity your finger has to obscure things onscreen with the tap to shoot, and there's only 6 levels, but it's the best Tap Shooter alongside Wide West Guns. Hopefully there will be updates with more levels. Get it now.

Someone decided to take Doodle Jump and make a simple Mario-esque platformer out of it. You auto jump, tilt to move left/ right and touch a ledge to grab it if it's in range. The physics make it fun, although I wish it was a tad bit faster like Doodle Jump.

This game is recommended basically on the great gameplay mechanics, the stages are pretty rudimentary in art and design, no flash there.

Another platformer where the focus is on getting platforming right. Here you lay in a timed platforming world, and instead of direct controls you quickly set up a jump arc for your flame character to jump to. Great music and artwork. Platforming setpieces are a bit simplistic for my tastes, hopefully it will get an update with more inventive stages.

An old one from last year, but a favorite of mine. Here you are launching penguins at offscreen evil bears, but here instead of setting up trajectories you simply have to time the launcher and then tap to make the penguins dive bomb the bears when near. Nice game when you don't want to be tilting the idevice around. There is a Lite version to try out.

GALCON. In a perfect world, galcon would be the #1 app.
