    Messing around with the filesystem of an Ipot 1G, i found this image, i think that it's for magnetometer on iphone 3gs, that means, apple developed 3.0 firmware before they released iphone 3gs, look at this

    iPot?

    The file's called recalibrateBezel. I vaguely remember Bezel having something to do with how you represent a curve in 3D graphics maybe.

    Anybody have any idea what it is and why it might need recalibration?

    That image is used in the 3GS for the compass application, it means re-calibrate the compass. The caption says "Move the iphone in a figure 8 to recalibrate the compass".

    Yeah the ipods firmware is just stripped down from iphone firmware and they leave little bits and pieces from the phone lying around all the time.
