The main question is IF you can wait. Going by Apple's past releases, the 4th generation will probably come out in September. So, if you can wait until then, then wait because it will probably be better than the 3rd generation (obviously

). But if you are in desperate need of an iPod then go ahead and get one.

Well, again, that depends on you. Personally, I can live without a jailbreak, but there are many people who consider their iPod useless if it's not jailbroken. So if you really want to jailbreak, I'd go for the 3rd gen instead because the 4th gen probably won't be jailbroken right away.

Yea, it does. It allows multitasking, which is a big deal for most people and there are some really nice task switchers available. There are many tweaks and apps available. Such as Shrink, which shrinks the size of your icons. Iconoclasm, which allows you to arrange your springboard in any way. Infinidock, which allows an infinite amount of apps on your dock and you can then scroll through them. Infiniboard, which allows an infinite amount of apps on your springboard page, and you can just scroll through them. Categories or Stacks, which are like folders to store your apps. And many, many others.

But some programs in Cydia can also noticeably slow down your iPod and decrease battery life. You have to be careful that you don't install too many things.

    Rock is faster
Cydia is more stable, but slow

I really like Cydia I think it's the best choice, but I also use Rock if i have problems with Cydia ;D
