I have a jail broken 16 gig touch but have been away from the scene for a while now. The firmware looks to be updated to 1.1.2. I can no longer download items from the installer so it seems. I guess my main questions are: Is it safe to update to the current firmware (2.2.1)? And will I then be able to download apps from the installer? Thank you for any replies.

yeah. there is absolutely nothing good left in 1.1.2 .

Leadergo says, DO A BARREL ROLL AND UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE

If you liked 1.1.2. go to 1.1.4.

But if you want the latest and greatest 2.X.X and up is the way!

Ok, so if I understand correctly - it is safe for me to upgrade to 2.2.1 through Itunes correct?

And you said that installer is dead, so that means I need "Cydia", Is there a tutorial to get this working on my touch? And does it work the same way the installer did? Thanks so much for the reply!

So, once I upgrade to 2.2.1, I will need to jail break again with quickpwn, and that will put Cydia on my touch correct?

Once I do this process will all the current apps and music on my touch still work and be there? Thank you so much for the help.

    Also, another quick question:

When I update to 2.2.1 through Itunes, will it delete the music currently on my touch?

You'll keep your music, videos, and photos, but your apps will be gone because they will not run on 2.2.1.

you won't be able to download the original installer applications/themes, but you'll be able to download cydia versions of those applications/themes

Hey guys this might sound stupid but I am kinda new too to the iPod touch scene (1month), and I did the JB no problem and I have Cydia and Installer from QuickPWN. So are you saying that I can get rid of Installer because I don't need it, or will it affect anything else?

    Thanks,The Crow
