I am going to help out a friend set-up his new Ipod touch.

My main question is can he make his iTunes account from my computer?

    Thanks!

    Yeah, that's fine.

Make sure he authorizes his computer once he gets back to his computer, though.

Thank you for answering. Now I am wondering if we should install the 3.1 update while he is here. When he gets home and syncs to his wife's computer will he be able to transfer the update or will he have to download again? ( He bought a 2 nd gen 8gb touch re-furb, I am assuming the os 3.1 won't be already there)

I'm not sure if anyone else will know unless they've also bought a refurbished iPod. Check by plugging the iPod into your PC/Mac, and check on iTunes what firmware it is. It should atleast be on 3.0 though, so an update should be free.

If you do update it to 3.1, then it should still be fine, but use his new account and make sure he validates his PC/Mac when he gets back.

Thanks everyone. The setup went well. For any one curious
, the 2 nd gen touch came with the 2.2.1 os, and the update to 3.1 was free. Now I feel a little ripped off cause I bought a 1st gen and had to pay $ 10 for the 2.2.1 and then (thank God I held out) $5 for the 3.1 update. Oh well I still think Apple rocks. They make everything so easy to do. A fool and his money are easy to part as they say.....
