So whenever my ipod is idle or when i lock it it turns off and I cant turn it back on till it dies and I recharge it. But it works fine if every couple minutes i change the slide or something. What can I do? No I have not tried restoring but would that fix it?

It's nit common, but if it craps out on you like that, Holding the home + power button for 10 seconds for a force restart.

WiFi is on all the time, even when in Sleep mode, so that will suck out a lot of the battery life.

What does that have to do with me not even being able to turn on or do anything?

I would try a restore, as it can't hurt that much. Just remember to back up apps, music, and other files you may need.
