    Hi guys,

First of all, I want to thank the people who have spend their time making android and openiboot for the itouch (like djmitza222).

Anyway, I have an iPod Touch 1g and am trying (and failing) at installing linux on it. I have read all of the guides of how to install openiboot and I have basically memorized it. I have burned a live cd of ubuntu and have run it on all of the macs in my house (including mini mac, macbook 1g, and macbook 2g). However, I always get the same message: It cannot connect to my itouch and says that "you must put your itouch in recovery mode." Obviously I have done this so I assumed it must be the usb connection. I downloaded tons of patches and tried to reinstall libusb. It still did not work. I tried using iphodroid to install openiboot but of course it didn't work because it is designed for iphones. Can anyone help me?

I have created this account for the sole purpose of installing android. I hope it will be useful

The only thing I can ask you is:
1.Are you sure it is in recovery mode(connect to itunes) and not DFU?
2.Do you have libusb and pthread installed?
3.Did you try letting it in recovery mode and plugging it in and out until it works?

    1. Take this http://www.[PIRACY.mf].com/?u3dtxktmb0o

    2. Open it in terminal (sudo ./quickoib)

    3. Select your language

Type "Y" or "yes".. then enter

    4. Let it to download all libraries that you need.

    5. Try again to install OpeniBoot

okay so no more usb error. I had not put the device into recovery mode. THat was the problem. However, I did ./loadibec openiboot.img3 and there was no response on the itouch (but no error either). What is wrong now???

    EDIT:
And now I can't even get it into recovery mode again by holding the home button and plugging it in. I think the commands did something, but I don't see openiboot. Maybe I didn't jailbreak it right? I used QuickPwn...

    1. Make sure that openiboot is in the same folder as loadibec

    2. Make sure that your iPod is in RECOVERY mode

    3. Try to change usb ports

I already tried all of that. I also changed all of the permissions to 777. It has nothing to do with the usb ports otherwise there would be an error, the ipod is definitely in recovery mode, and yes they are in the same folder.

You MUST have 3.1.2 on your iPod and you MUST jailbreak it with blackra1n.

Okay I was able to run openiboot but not install it. I did the ./oibc command but I think it did it too early or too late. I typed install in the command prompt but nothing happened. I saw the "welcome to openiboot" on my itouch but not in the terminal. How do I install the openiboot?
