    when you upgrade from 2.2.1 to 3.0 what happens to the 2.2.1 firmware
    cause I only have 8GB and I don't what to waste much memory on firmware

    Don't worry about it. It's not taking up extra space. You don't have 2 firmwares on your device.

    it replaces it... it actually frees up some space for you

    It's an upgrade. In all likelihood, it would take up a little bit more space. But that amount of space is fairly nominal.

    what did you think it did, put 2 firmware on ur ipod? and 8gb is not as small as you think!
