My ipod touch stopped working so im trying to restore it. When plugged into the computer it shows the connect to itunes logo, so i try to restore but when it says Preparing iPod for restore it starts loading but than my iPod re-boots and shows the apple logo and than the conect to itunes image compes up again and than it reboots again (all this occurs while the preapring for iPod for restore keeps loading and fnishing about 5 times) Than it just stops and says Cant restore ipod, error 1611. Also once i unplug ipod from computer there is no way of turning it on.

Here are some questions to ask your self.....

Q: Are you trying to restore with a custom firmware?
A: If you are, don't, second gen ipod touches are jailbroken yet. Meaning Custom firmware isn't supported.

Q: Are you trying to restore with the latest firmware for the second gen ipod touch (FW 2.1.1)?
A: If you arent, the second gen ipod touch is only compatible with FW 2.1.1.

Q: Are you sure you have a second gen ipod touch?
A: If you just realized you don't have a second gen ipod touch... find the package the device came in, place the device and original components back in there correct positions and then return the device, because your are to stupid to us it. lol JK

LOL, okay. To me, this sounds like an internal problem, like a short. Not a software problem.
