I have a new itouch 4. The wi-fi works fine at hot spots (macdonalds). My problem is that I have added a router at my house and cannot get connected to the internet on my touch. My router is a belkin. My laptop works fine with the new router. When I go to settings, wi-fi, it see the belkin and then i tap the belkin network and then i have to put a password in. I have the password from belkin and have tried it in lower case, upper case and still nothing. My ip address on the touch after I type in the password starts with 169 so its the wrong password somehow....My laptop did not ask for a password, and at fast food places, i dont need a password, so why do i need to enter this password for the touch to work....

    Any help is greatly appreciated....

    Try changing the router password.

    Call belkin support.

Because this places don't require one. You just need to accept the terms, hit ok and you can surf.

You need to enter the password exactly as shown by belkin.

My nephew's 2G iPT quit working at my house so I unplugged the power from my router for 5 minutes and when I plugged it back in, his iPod connected. I did have to tap in the password tho.

okay. some routers have the option of having a simple password. this did not work for me. try using the long 26letter one.

To get my password, I typed in a number on the bottom of the router. Not sure if you had already tried this.

change the security type on the router. Maybe its on WPA and needs to be on WPA2 or WEP. just try what works, I had a similar problem with this issue
