Well 3 days ago something went wrong with my windows vista, so i decided to make a ubuntu live cd or whatever and load that, boot from that and install windows vista from there something went wrong though. When i clicked on install in windows vista it gave me so type of error so i decided to i was done trying to install that, so i booted from ubuntu and clicked on the icon in the desktop that said install, everything went perfect with that. Today my dad bought a windows vista installation cd, it doesnt boot. But when im in ubuntu i click on the icon that says setup.exe for windows vista and it doesnt open it gives me an error, so i decided to make a windows vista cd that was able to boot but now when i wanna install it says the harddrive where i wanna install windows vista must be a nfts or something like that. The thing is i think ubuntu got installed on the harddrive, when i installed ubuntu there was no other operating system at the time. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    1. Format your hard drive with the Vista install CD so 50% of it is NTFS and the other 50% is empty space.
    2. Install Windows Vista on the NTFS partition.
    3. Load the Ubuntu LiveCD.
    4. When you choose to partition, format the other 50% as EXT3 and a smaller bit as SWAP.
    5. Finish installing Ubuntu.

    Ubuntu is awesome.
You could install it to an external HD.

That would involve going into manual mode.

He can't even figure out how to format his hard drive in the first place.

    And EXT4 is great.

You might have to format your hard drive
Unless you have a vista recovery disk.
