Let me sum up the thread which is about the status of an untethered 3G jailbreak:

"No, not yet, and possibly not until the next major firmware release".

Downgrading will only ensure he can jailbreak the iPod Touch 3G... if he's not already on firmware 3.1.3, and if he already jailbroke 3.1.2 so his ECID SHSH keys are stored on the Cydia servers.

OK, listen.. To anyone thinking the 2G firmware will make iPod touch 3G untethered: The bootrom is the thing the matters. The bootrom is located in a chip. So you can't virtually change it. Understand?
