So, straight to the point, I've realized that the only way to fully get rid of my jailbreak is to restore my iPod touch 3G and NOT restore from the backup.

Question is, if I set it up as a new iPod, will there be any way to get back my apps & data?
For instance, will my iTunes still save list of the apps I've downloaded?

Your Apps should be in iTunes already. If not, Just select transfer purchases.

And note the use if the word, purchases. Hint hint.

I have a problem with my Touch not saving backups, it will only overwrite the previous backup so that is the only one I have left. So I"m wanting to get rid of the Jailbreak on it (I only did this to install custom wallpaper and to change the 4 icons on the bottom. I've got lots of contacts and calendar info set that I want to keep so restoring from a backup will restore the Jailbreak. What is this DFU mode and will that allow me to keep all my contact and calendar data? Thanks and sorry for the noobie questions.

DFU means Device Firmware Update. If a restore using Recovery Mode doesn't work you will want to use DFU Mode as a last resort. When placing your iPhone into DFU Mode it does not load the OS before attempting the restore

Thanks for the reply, applehacker. How do you get into DFU mode? I've only restored from backup once and am a new user of Apple products. Thanks.
