Ok so at my school, there are like a million blocked websites(including this one) becasue of advertisement, or social interaction yada yada. So I found a proxy server in the installer and installed it, but the sites were still blocked, is there anything I'm missing or what do I have to do.

And most of the web based proxy's are blocked too.

Make sure you write the S at the end of http, otherwise it won't work, if this is already blocked, sorry, I'm looking for a Proxy too for work, I'll let you know if I stumble unto anything good.

    These proxies should work -
    https://cuteknife.com or https://scarcup.com
Their both pretty much the same proxy but with different domains.
I installed a proxy called Tiny proxy from installer.app but I don't have a clue where it has been installed to so could someone help or atleast recommend ne to a better proxy server that's in installer.app.

Does anyone know how to actually host a proxy on a windows box? Not like a proxy that you like go to a website and put the URL there, but an actual proxy where you put the IP and port in your connection settings so that all traffic is sent there before going to where the info is going to end up.

Yes well if im understanding what you want. I set up a proxy on my computer so i could access my internet from another network. The proxy was called Circumventor which can be found here with instructions for its installation - http://www.peacefire.org/circumventor/simple-circumventor-instructions.html

I've been using a program called HoTTProxy for free internet on my Verizon Moto V9m.

    http://www.hottproxy.org/

This program lets you set up an authenticated proxy on your pc. If an unauthenticated proxy is needed, there is a hack for the Perl version of this program, but not for the Windows installer version. I'm still an iTouch noob, (JB 1.1.1) so not sure how or even if it will work with the iTouch. So much to learn, I really don't even know where to start...

If you do end up setting this up, and you have a dynamic IP (which most do), I also recommend DynDNS, which allows you to create a domain so you don't have to update your IP every time it changes.

    http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/

    Hope this helps

On firefox, go to Tools>Options >Advanced>Network>Settings and allow for a manual proxy to be put in.

Then go to google and type "proxy list" to find a list of proxies.

Type on of the proxies AND the port into the HTTP proxy/port spots in the settings and you should be good to go.

Problem is, most of the free proxies you get reroute you through places like Denmark or China so they're kinda slow.

Also, since they're free, they tend to not work a lot of the time.

PS, glad my 300th post is something useful and not me bashing a noob for not searching. Congrats on a terrific topic.

what you need is not a proxy, a permanent fix would be a web mirror. one has been ported to the iphone.

i found something apparently tor has been ported to iphone/itouch http://www.linux-ren.org/modules/everestblog/?p=161 make sure u change ur file permissions when putting it on. (i didn't know which should be changed so i just changed em all....) remember though bouncing ur signal off tor slows down surfing alot so just use it when u need to get past internet blocking i'm not sure if web blocking effects the youtube app on iphone/itouch or if this app will get around it.. (it may just do safari) but i think it will unlike http proxies anything that normally works in safari will work over tor
