    Hi

i got an iPod 2g Touch last week. It came with firmware 2.2.1. I understand that to install apps apart from appstore, i have to jailbreak this ipod. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this?

I am a very very newbie to this.

    Also can anyone answer me
    1) what is "Untehtered Jailbreak"?
    2) what can i do after jailbreak?(use if jailbreaking)
    3) I have my apps purchased from appstore. How can i put it back after jailbeak?

    i am running Vista 32bit sp1.

    Thanks a lot in advance

    1. It means that your ipod is jailbroken and can turn on and off like a normal ipod touch.
    2. Themes, Cydia apps, access to root folder, etc.
    3) You can just sync them back on your Ipod in iTunes

    hey.

    1) when the iphone dev team first got a working jailbreak, it was "tethered" meaning that you needed a computer to turn on the ipod. Then they "untethered" it meaning you no longer require a computer, and it can boot on its own.

2)There is an endless list of things you can do with a jailbroken ipod. loads more customazation in particular.

3)You can simply resync your appstore apps back onto your ipod. The jailbreak doesn't take away this ability

Jailbreaking is a pretty safe thing to do as long as you can read. There is always a way to fix an iPod, unless the hardware isn't working right or you tried to dual boot firmwares. (which is a bad idea unless your really good at this stuff) Jailbreaking does void your warranty however, but this can be fixed simply with a restore.

    Hope i helped a little.

It depends. You don't need yellowsn0w as it is for iPhone 3g only.

If your on a PC use redTool or Quickfreedom.

    MAC use untetherizer.
