I jailbroke my ipod 2 days ago (iPod Touch 1G) and that same day Cydia broke. I put Icy on it using iFile successfully but when I try to download a package, i get this error:

    setuid: Operation not permitted
    setgid: Operation not permitted
dpkg: requested operation requires superuser privilege

I tried making myself the superuser and then going back into Icy and redownloading the package, but it still gave me that error.

Here's what I'm trying to get at:
Where does Icy download the files to? If I know where that is and the files are there, i can go into MobileTerminal (or whatever it's called) and use dpkg there with superuser privileges.

Don't use Icy it just breaks things. Just restore and re-jailbreak.

    I had the same problems.
Tried to re-install via blackra1n app both cydia and icy, without restoring ipod. On the last try I installed (again) icy, cydia, rock.

Now installed openssh from cydia, it works. I think I will use cydia.

UPDATE: Cydia has some trouble recognizing its version. It suggests to restore the iPod.

I had EXACTLY the same problem as you. What fixed it for me was a restore (wipe iPod clean), install backup I'd made before jailbreak, re-jailbreak, and then install ONLY Cydia from Blackra1n. I'd tried uninstalling through SSH all the other stuff but it still wouldn't work.
