I have a 3rg gen 32 gb ipt. I have the shsh blobs for 3.1.3 through now. I want to jailbreak. I have several questions:
    • There isn't a way for me to get the 3.1.2 blobs so I can jailbreak with the new one is there?
    • Where does iTunes save backups of my iPod touch, so that I can back up the backup?
    • If I downgrade to 4.0, can I use a backup from 4.1?

lol downgrade with tinyumbrella and jailbreak with spirit ( dont uptade activator cuz it has a glitch that makes the volume icon (the one that pops up when u click the volume buttons) never fade away.

I know, but then I can't use the backup from 4.1 and I don't want to spend the 4 or 5 hours it takes to resync and rearrange all my apps and everything.

If you all can answer these two, that is all I want to know:
    • Where does iTunes save backups of my iPod touch, so that I can back up the backup?
    • If I downgrade to 4.0, can I use a backup from 4.1?

no i can not answer those questions... i have not bothered with ios4 much( i tried it and i hated it) and i barely know how to use itunes (LOL) but it might be possible to use a backup of a later firmware on an older one(i am 60% sure it can be done in your case) and omg 5 hours??? have u tried a usb 2.0 connection? cuz that is just crazy.

I have no idea on the last 2(never tried)

But for #1: No. You cannot get any shsh blobs after Apple has stopped signing them(They are currently signing 4.1. All previous versions are not.)

You cant use a backup from a newer firmware on an older firmware. I've tried it from 4.0 to 3.1.3, and 4.1 to 4.0. iTunes just wont cooperate.

These are all the right answers, I have been here for a while.

1.There is no way, as soon as apple stops signing 3.1.2 they stop forever.

2.You can select the backup you wish to use after a restore, it will ask you to retore from a backup or not then you can select which backup you want. Also CTRL + , you can find a list of the backups in the menu somewhere.

3.If you downgrade to 4.0 from 4.1 there is no way of restoring your backup, if you can somehow, it will be very harmful and you may suffer

    *battery loss
    *massive lag
    *pertaining problems
    *possible bootloop

Were there just battery issues with 4.0?
