I have a 5.5G iPod video with firmware 1.2.3, and I'm following the manual tutorial for iPod linux because I have a mac. Can anyone help me with this? I have managed to get the bootloader onto it, and I can't figure out how to get podzilla/iPod linux onto it.

    Here's what I did:
Downloaded everything (iPod patcher, Loader2 binary, userland, kernel)
Did the iPod patcher thing (checked disk number)
    Backed up (bootpartition.bin)
Installed the bootloader (this works) has the blue menu when first boot
Installed the userland in the iPod root.
Put the kernel in the iPod root (is this wrong?)
Put the podzilla bin in the bin file.
Put the other stuff where it's supposed to go.
    Reboot.
    Not working...
    Help?

I got it to show up in the bootloader but now I have a kernel panic 5 seconds after it launches.

No I don't think so. I tried the holding rewind and it didn't do anything. Just normally went to the bootloader.

    Hm. Weird.

Did you rename the kernel to linux.bin?

for my old ipod i used rockbox. its sorta like the linux thing but works on the updated ipod and stuff, It can run doom and is customizable. it also has loads of games and is pretty easy to install. but linux is a good choice to. just very annoying
