    Hello all,

I am new on the forum, so i'll introduce myself first. I have had an iPod touch 2G for a year now, and have jailbroken it, so i'm familiar with that process.

Today i bought an iPhone 1G from a friend (Running 3.0), and it has already been jailbroken and unlocked. Problem is, it has all of his contacts and all of his music. I don't like the way he's done everything regarding the jailbreak, so i want to start afresh.

I was just about to agree to a system restore, when i remembered that 3.1.3 screws everything up. My two questions are:

Is there any way that i can restore it and revert to 3.1.2 in order to jailbreak it again?

    And

If i restore it, will it still be unlocked?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    RS

Download the iPhone 2G 3.1.2 IPSW and restore to that.

Use Redsn0w on it after it's been restored to 3.1.2.

Ok get sn0wbreeze from ih8sn0w.com and use that to make a custom fireware for 3.1.3 and restore to that and you should be fine.

Sn0wbreeze is still buggy because most times you get iTunes error 16xx

You should be able to downgrade it in DFU; the original iPhone does not have SHSH checks.

you can use iREB for any 16xx errors in itunes.

    redsn0w is better.

iReb and Sn0wbreeze didn't work for me when I jailbroke my 3g. Sn0wbreeze custom FW gave me error 1604 most times and when I tried iReb it didn't make the screen red or white. So I had to use redsn0w which always does a good job.

The biggest difference is that the 2nd generation iPhone has 3G internet connectivity which the first generation lacks. Take a look at the link below for a side-by-side spec comparison. The 2G model refers to the 1st generation and the 3G model is the 2nd generation iPhone
