Looked around for a ripper and found that Handbrake was popular. Running Win7, downloaded the GUI version (not sure if I should have used the CLI). Anyway, got the program installed, and ripped a DVD, moved it to my Touch and it came out terrible, not even viewable with patchy sound when there was any. Is this the best Free program ?

What's the file size? If it's too small, then there will be loss of quality.

    We'll need a few details.
As Chris asked, what's the file size?
Also, what's the extension you ripped too?
Sometimes an extension has a lot to do with Quality.
(IE: PNG being better quality than JPG. Picture wise)

Think I found the problem, the DVD's are protected. Downloaded a program called MagicDVDRipper (trial for 5, then $34.00). But it worked just fine, fast, excellent quality, easy to use. I think I have found my solution.

The problem is indeed that they are protected, DVD43 is a good solution for any other others having this problem.
