    hello

I just got a ipod touch 2g. I want to jailbreak it but i am running into some problems. First quickpwn didn't work, then i restored the ipod touch but there is no firmware therefore my ipod does not turn on. I download the firmware (5G77a) but it is a rar file, when extract it there is no ipsw file in it.

    What do I do?

    Thanks

Download the firmware I have provided and extract it somewhere

Go into iTunes and plug your iPod in

When you press restore hold 'Shift' and then find the .ipsw file

And it will restore to that

Then visit this thread for the Jailbreaking tutorial and program for the 2G iPod QuickPwn can't jailbreak 2G iPod yet

change the .rar to .ipsw or you hit restore and let itunes download it for you

    Kay, Let's solve em.
    :]

Quickpwn + 2G iPod Touch = No Jailbreak.
Quickpwn doesn't work for it. Dx
You have to check the redsn0w part of the fourms

Hm. I'm not to sure you can restore without a ispw or a firmware. ._.

You probably got a messed up link.
Try Here and save it to the desk top.
When you open iTunes click your iPod the hold shift down and click restore.
Navigate to your desktop and pick the Ispw file.
And if your still looking to Jailbreak.
    Use This. It's amazing.
    Jailbreak, no problem.
    :]
    Happy Hacking.

    Thanks for the reply

So just to confirm no jailbreak for ipod touch 2g firmware 2.2 but you can jailbreak the latest firmware 2.2.1?

Also the thread you gave me to jailbreak my ipod touch, it wont mess up my ipod ( void the warranty)? I am assuming you can restore back.

    Thanks once again.

    My Pleasure.
    :'D

Not that I know of no.
But 2.2.1 is the excat same is 2.2. Minor changes in safari and updated iPhone basebands. But we don't have to worry about that.
    :]

    If anything goes bad.
Go into DFU mode and restore.
    Shhhhhh!
Apple doesn't need to know anythingggg.
    :'D
