i have had so many problems with my ipod now it hasn't been bootable now for 3 days... here is my situation.. please help me

    ok.

i plug in my jailbroken 2g

i have vista.. so there is a BEEP BEEP sound from my speakers.

ok, then the window pops up, "unrecognized USB Device"

ok, then WITH ITUNES OPEN, i time the DFU process PERFECTLY

at about 8 seconds into the DFU process, vista BEEP BEEPS the disconnect of the ipod touch.. then 2 seconds later i release the power button and continue to hold the home button

while i'm holding it there is NO new BEEP BEEP, no new window in windows saying anything of a USB device connected, itunes does NOT prompt me for a restore... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!?! this has worked in the past!!! i have booted my ipod through this jailbreak before!!

i get half way through the DFU process and the stupid ipod wont reconnect into DFU so i can BOOT THE DAMN THING

any Suggestions!? this has been very frustrating..

You might not be holding the home and power long enough. Try holding them both for 10 seconds exactly.
AFter that, just hold the home button for at least 20 seconds to make sure that it is in DFU mode.
too many people let go of the home button too early, then complain that their iPod won't go into DFU mode.

the timing is perfect.. i really am doing the DFU process correctly...

i am so close to booting this... what am i doing wrong?? i do the dfu process perfectly... there is just nothing that happens as i hold the home button past the 10 seconds.. and it doesn't even matter if i hold it for 30 seconds or anything.. there is no new BEEP

Just keep trying is all I can say. I tried for a loooong time and it eventually worked. Annoying, I know.

Eh, messed up my first time trying to get into DFU, but that was because I wasn't holding the Home button long enough.

So just hold the home button until it's in DFU. Don't let go after 8 seconds or w/e the other guides say.

Ugh, my USB ports broke again. That's the issue.
